XCU card of Citrans 550F is composed of clock module and cross-connect module. This card can perform functions of both clock card and cross-connect card. The specific introduction is as follows.

Functions of clock module:

• Perform clock signal input/output processing, timing signal generating and SSM transmission & processing.
• Provide steady system clock, frame alignment and multi-frame alignment pulse.
• Choose, trace and lock the proper clock reference source automatically.
• Provide several kinds of input interfaces of clock reference source.
• Provide 2×2048kHz or 2×2048kbit/s clock source (conform to ITU-T Rec. G.813) outside.
• Support several kinds of clock working modes.
• Support S1 byte processing.
• Functions of cross-connect module
• Provide 128×128VC-4 higher order cross-connect capacity.
• Provide 4032×4032VC-12 lower order cross-connect capacity.
• Support switch protection function and seamless switching function between working and protection cards.
• Perform APS protocol processing in 6 directions and switch function in abnormal condition.
• Support BIP2 performance degradation to serve as switching criteria of lower order UPSR.
• Support 1:6 protection of E1-63 card, 1:2 protection of E3/T3-3 card, and 1:3 protection of E4-4 card and E155-4 card.
• Support the remote download function of FPGA and BCT programs.

Citrans 550F adopts 1+1 hot standby protection for the XCU card. The XCU card has two working modes: working and standy. Generally, we appoint that the firstly electrified card is the working card; and the other one is the protection card. When the protection card receives failure information from the working card, it sets itself as “working” mode and sends out the switching alarms to take over the work of working card.
